The two styles
45-minute Somatic class ($35). Beginner-friendly. Slower breath pace. Facilitator stays close. Good first experience.
90-minute Deep Dive ($55, Sundays). Music-led, longer breath sequences, eye masks. Most people lie on mats and travel through varied states. Bring tissues. Allow 30 minutes after the class before you drive.
What to wear / bring
Comfortable, layered clothes. You’ll lie on a mat for the whole session, so dressing for movement isn’t the point. Bring socks (the studio is cool). They provide everything else.
When to book the Deep Dive vs the Somatic
If you’ve never done breathwork: go to a Somatic class. Twice if you can.
If you’ve done one breathwork session and want more: try the Deep Dive on a Sunday when you don’t have late-day plans. Plan dinner with a friend after, not back-to-back meetings.
How they compare in Austin
Breathwave is the most credentialed breathwork space in Austin. The closest peer is The Travis Method (downtown), which is excellent for trauma-informed work specifically but doesn’t run the Deep Dive style. Other spaces marketing “breathwork” in Austin range from solid to weekend-certification — Breathwave is reliably in the “actually trained” tier.
