Short answer: No. Planet Fitness’s membership page lists no sauna, steam room or pool at any of its 2,900+ locations. What it offers instead is the PF Black Card Spa: massage chairs, and at participating locations HydroMassage, tanning, Total Body Enhancement, a Wellness Pod and a Recovery Lounge. None of these is a sauna, including Total Body Enhancement, which is red light with vibration. For a real sauna, a session at a sauna studio costs a median $40 in our 22-city price index, and some gym chains do have one.

“Does Planet Fitness have a sauna?” is one of the most common gym questions, and the confusion is understandable: the Black Card Spa sounds like it should have one, and some articles call one of its machines an infrared sauna.

This guide goes through what Planet Fitness’s membership page actually lists, what each Black Card Spa machine is, and where to find a sauna if that is what you want. We checked it on October 5, 2026.

What Planet Fitness offers instead of a sauna

All of it sits in the PF Black Card Spa, which comes with the PF Black Card membership rather than the Classic one. Planet Fitness notes that items marked on its page “are available at participating locations only,” and that covers everything below except the massage chairs.

  • Massage chairs. Listed for Black Card members to “relax and unwind with a massage after your workout.”
  • HydroMassage. Planet Fitness calls it “an innovative water massage for wellness and muscle recovery.” Its maker describes powerful waves of heated water massage in a lounge or bed.
  • Tanning. “An exclusive benefit for PF Black Card members,” with state and local limits on how often you can tan.
  • Total Body Enhancement. “This booth features a UV free application of red light, which pairs with vibra-shape technology.”
  • Wellness Pod. Planet Fitness describes it only as “a relaxing and rejuvenating escape.”
  • Recovery Lounge. “The Recovery Lounge offers targeted cold for soreness and aches, complemented by warmth in other areas for comfort.”

There is no sauna, steam room, hot tub or pool on the list.

Is Total Body Enhancement a sauna?

No. Some articles describe it as Planet Fitness’s infrared sauna, but Planet Fitness’s own description is a booth with UV-free red light paired with vibration. Nothing in that description is a heated room, and the claims made for red light are a separate question from what a sauna does.

Is the Wellness Pod a sauna?

No. Planet Fitness does not describe what is inside, but WellnessSpace Brands, the company behind HydroMassage, lists Planet Fitness among its customers and sells a RelaxSpace Wellness Pod: a seat with “immersive visuals, guided breathing, calming scents and heated seating.” If that is the pod in your club, it is a relaxation seat with a warm back, not hot air.

The Recovery Lounge’s description reads like the same company’s CryoLounge+, which it calls a recovery chair that integrates cold and heat contrast. Either way, it is not a cold plunge.

How old do you have to be to use Planet Fitness?

Planet Fitness’s membership page says you can join at 13 or older with a parent or legal guardian’s permission. Members aged 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when they work out, many clubs also require that 14-year-olds be accompanied at all times, and members aged 15 to 17 need a signed waiver from a parent or guardian.

Where to find a real sauna

At another gym chain. Some chains do list saunas. Life Time lists one at 183 of the 209 clubs whose amenity pages we read, and 346 of the 630 Crunch location pages list one. Equinox’s member policies set rules for its saunas, steam rooms and cold plunges, and EōS lists a sauna and an indoor pool in its Will Crush membership. Our guide to which gym chains have a sauna goes chain by chain, with counts from the chains’ own location pages.

At a sauna studio or bathhouse. In our sauna and cold plunge price index, built from 203 prices on venues’ own websites in 22 US cities, a sauna session without a plunge costs a median $40 and a session with both a sauna and a cold plunge a median $49. Our city guides list venues by city.
