New York hotels with a sauna or cold plunge, from the hotels' own pages
Which New York hotels actually list a sauna, a steam room or a cold plunge, who can use them, and what a day pass costs where one is published. Read on each hotel's own site in October 2026.
Short answer: Of the New York hotels whose own pages we could read, Aman New York lists the most: a sauna, steam room and cold plunge terrace off its changing rooms, plus banya and hammam spa houses with their own hot bath and cold plunge. ModernHaus SoHo hosts an infrared sauna and cold plunge pop-up on its 17th floor. For a sauna without booking a room, Virgin Hotels New York sells a recovery day pass at $50 on weekdays and $75 on weekends, and the Equinox Hotel’s spa, with cryotherapy and an infrared sauna, is open to the public.
“Hotel with a sauna” can mean anything from a wood-lined room in the spa to a blanket delivered to your door. So we read each hotel’s own spa, wellness and room pages in October 2026 and kept only what the hotel itself says.
This guide covers what each hotel lists, who can use it, and what it costs where the hotel publishes a price. It does not rank anything; we have not stayed at these hotels.
What each hotel lists
| Hotel | What it lists | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Aman New York (Midtown) | Sauna, steam room and a Cold Plunge Terrace off the changing rooms; two spa houses with a banya or hammam, each with a terrace hot bath and cold plunge; a Contrast Therapy Suite with an infrared sauna, red light, cold plunge and steam shower | Spa guests; spa house treatments can be booked individually without the full house |
| ModernHaus SoHo | Haus of Glow, “an exclusive wellness pop-up offering infrared sauna and cold plunge therapy” on the 17th floor | Bookable sessions; hotel guests get 15% off on weekday afternoons and 10% otherwise |
| Equinox Hotel New York (Hudson Yards) | Temperature therapy: cryotherapy and an infrared sauna, plus an MLX i3Dome | The spa “is open to the public”; the Hudson Yards club is for Equinox members and hotel guests |
| Virgin Hotels New York (NoMad) | “A coed hammam and dry sauna” at the Exhale spa | Recovery Day Pass: $50 Monday to Thursday, $75 Friday to Sunday, booked ahead, 10 guests a day |
| The William Vale (Williamsburg, Brooklyn) | “Panoramic barrel saunas and cedar hot tubs” | Private sauna and hot tub sessions; a section for hotel guests |
| The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad | A sauna in the spa (pictured on its spa page) and a private steam shower with some treatments | Spa guests |
Cold plunges: the short list
Two hotels on this list publish a cold plunge. Aman New York has the most: its changing rooms lead to a sauna, steam room and rain showers beside “a Cold Plunge Terrace,” each of its two spa houses has a private terrace “with a hot bath and cold-plunge covered by a canopy” for year-round use, and a private Contrast Therapy Suite pairs an infrared sauna with a cold plunge.
ModernHaus SoHo hosts Haus of Glow, a pop-up with infrared sauna and cold plunge sessions on its 17th floor. A pop-up can close, so check it is still running before you book around it.

A sauna without booking a room
Two hotels make this easy. Virgin Hotels New York sells a Recovery Day Pass with unlimited access to the spa’s hammam and dry sauna: $50 Monday to Thursday and $75 Friday to Sunday, booked in advance and limited to 10 guests a day. Booking a treatment there also includes access to the spa amenities.
The Equinox Hotel’s spa says it is open to the public, and lists cryotherapy and an infrared sauna under temperature therapy. Access to the Equinox Hudson Yards club itself is limited to Equinox members and hotel guests.
In-room options are blankets, not saunas
Search for “hotels with a sauna in the room” and you will find in-room wellness offers that use a sauna blanket. 1 Hotel Central Park offers HigherDose’s Sauna Blanket and PEMF Mat in the room, and the Bamford Wellness Spa at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge lists an Infrared Sauna Blanket among its HigherDOSE experiences.
A heated blanket is a different experience from a hot room. Our guide to a sauna blanket vs a real sauna explains the difference.
What we could not confirm
Some hotel sites would not load for us or did not say. Six Senses New York and Four Seasons Downtown returned errors to our requests, so they are not in the table. The Greenwich Hotel’s Shibui Spa lists changing areas with steam and rain showers and a heated pool, but no sauna. If a hotel matters to your trip, ask the spa directly what it has, whether non-guests can book, and whether a cold plunge is a true cold pool.
Before you book a hotel for its spa
A few questions save disappointment:
- Is the sauna in the shared spa or a private room? Aman and the William Vale offer private sessions; others share a changing-room sauna.
- Can you use it without a treatment? Virgin’s day pass and the Equinox spa say yes; at others, access comes with a treatment.
- Is the cold plunge a pool or a tub? Ask its temperature.
- Is it a pop-up? ModernHaus calls Haus of Glow one.
