Canyon Ranch Austin: prices, the spa, and how it compares with Miraval and Lake Austin Spa

Canyon Ranch's new resort on Lake Travis opens in October 2026 and is already taking reservations. Unlike its two Austin neighbours, it publishes a starting price. Here is what that price buys, what the spa has, and how it stacks up.

Short answer: Canyon Ranch Austin opens in October 2026 at 600 Moonlight Bend, Spicewood, on Lake Travis, and is taking reservations now. Its Stay Your Way package starts at $1,325 per person per night for one guest, or $1,193 each for two or more, before taxes. That covers meals at two restaurants, 35-plus daily activities, spa facilities, airport vans and a $200 nightly spa and fitness credit. The spa is 40,000 square feet with a cedar sauna, a steam room, three whirlpools and two cold dips. Guests must be 14 or older.

Austin already has two inclusive spa resorts, Miraval Austin and Lake Austin Spa Resort. Canyon Ranch Austin makes three, and it arrives with more published detail than either: a starting price, a credit, a deposit policy and a treatment menu with prices.

It has not opened yet, so nobody has reviewed a stay there, and neither have we. Everything below comes from Canyon Ranch’s own Austin pages, read on 30 September 2026. We take no listing fees from anyone mentioned here.

What the price covers, and what it does not

The Stay Your Way package is the resort’s standard stay. Canyon Ranch lists it from $1,325 per person per night in single occupancy and from $1,193 per person in double or larger occupancy, excluding taxes, and its FAQ describes Stay Your Way packages of two nights or longer.

Canyon Ranch says every stay includes chef-crafted dining, with unlimited meals, snacks and beverages at its two restaurants, plus spa amenities, more than 35 daily optional activities, the 27,000 square foot fitness centre it calls The Barn, pools, accommodation and round-trip transportation.

On top of that, the package adds a $200 Spa and Fitness Credit per guest per night, which Canyon Ranch says can be used on any of its services, from spa treatments to fitness sessions and outdoor activities. Stays of three nights or more also get a one-time $300 Health and Wellness Credit for select services such as medical consultations and DEXA scans.

What the credit buys is worth checking against the menu. The signature massage is listed at $240 for 50 minutes, $340 for 80 and $430 for 100, and the resort’s signature Be Here Hill Country Ritual at $480 for 100 minutes. So one night’s credit does not quite cover the shortest signature massage, and the difference goes on your bill.

The pages we read do not say whether gratuities are included. Ask when you book.

The spa: 40,000 square feet, with a sauna and cold dips

Canyon Ranch calls it the largest spa in Texas. Its spa page describes 40,000 square feet, 40 treatment rooms, more than 100 services, indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy, relaxation lounges, a salon and a shop.

For anyone who comes for heat and cold, the list of what is included with a spa visit is the useful part: men’s and women’s locker rooms, a co-ed relaxation lounge, a cedar sauna, a steam room, an experiential rain walk, an ice fountain, three whirlpools and two multi-temperature cold dips.

That makes it the only one of Austin’s three inclusive spa resorts whose published amenities include cold dips. If you have not done a contrast circuit before, our guide to your first sauna session and our contrast therapy guide cover how to pace one.

The Women’s Wellness Collective and the events calendar

Canyon Ranch describes Austin as the first resort in the world with a dedicated women’s wellness practice, which it calls the Women’s Wellness Collective. That is the company’s claim, and the resort is not open yet to test it.

The early events calendar leans the same way. It lists a Sex, Skin and Sleep retreat from 12 to 15 November 2026 from $1,625 per person per night, and Level Up with Dr. Stacy Sims, on women’s fitness and health, from 10 to 13 December 2026 from $1,995 per person per night. It also lists a chef residency with Val Cantú, whom the resort calls its Michelin-starred culinary director, from 9 to 11 December.

Getting there, check-in and house rules

Canyon Ranch says it provides complimentary van transport to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport or Horseshoe Bay Resort Airport, if you send your flight details 48 hours before arrival. The resort sits at Spicewood on Lake Travis, which it describes as less than an hour from downtown Austin.

Rooms are ready by 3pm, and early arrivals get lunch. Check-out is at 11am, and you can stay on the property for the rest of the day, with lunch on the way out.

Guests must be at least 14, and some experiences have their own age limits. The standard cancellation policy asks for a two-night deposit at booking, fully refundable up to 21 days before arrival and forfeited after that. Groups of eight or more get a special rate.

The site is also a residential development. Canyon Ranch is selling 134 homesites of 0.8 to 3.7 acres, with three home designs by Lake Flato Architects starting at $3.8 million.

Who Canyon Ranch Austin suits

It suits you if you want the published numbers before you commit, a large spa with a real heat and cold circuit, and a credit you can steer towards fitness or treatments. It also suits anyone curious about a women’s health focus, or a family with teenagers aged 14 to 17, since Miraval does not take guests under 18.

Miraval Austin still stands apart on switching off, as a device-free resort on protected preserve land, and Lake Austin on the water itself. Our Canyon Ranch vs Miraval comparison covers how the two brands differ more broadly, and Canyon Ranch Tucson vs Lenox covers the older Canyon Ranch campuses.

What we do not know yet

A new resort’s first months are its first months. There are no guest reviews yet, and the pages we read do not say whether everything on the list will be running from the first day. If your dates are close to the October opening, ask what is open on your dates.

If it is heat, cold and quiet you want rather than a resort week, our Austin cold plunge and contrast therapy roundup is the local version, and our Texas Hill Country retreat guide covers the wider region.
