Cold water immersion, ice baths and hot-cold contrast circuits. Water immersion is not the same thing as a cryotherapy chamber — the water conducts heat away far faster, which is why a 50°F plunge feels nothing like 50°F air.

What to check before your first plunge
Ask the water temperature and whether it's held there or drifts through the day. Ask whether someone is present while you're in, which matters more than people expect the first few times. If you want contrast, check there's heat on the same site and that you can move between them freely rather than booking two separate slots.
