In most US cities in 2026, a drop-in sauna and cold plunge contrast session at a dedicated recovery studio runs about $25 to $65, and unlimited memberships run about $99 to $249 a month.

Resort and hotel spa day passes are a different market entirely, commonly $75 to $250 and up, because you are buying grounds and ambiance alongside the heat.

The single most useful number is your break-even. Most memberships pay for themselves somewhere between three and five visits a month, which is also roughly the frequency at which the practice starts doing anything for you.

What does each modality cost?

Across the venues we have mapped, the typical 2026 US ranges look like this.

Contrast session, sauna plus cold plunge, $25 to $65. Standalone infrared sauna, 45 minutes, $35 to $70. Cryotherapy, 3 minutes, $40 to $90. Float tank, 60 to 90 minutes, $60 to $99. Sound bath, $25 to $45.

Sixty-minute massage, $80 to $150. Initial acupuncture visit, $75 to $150. Drop-in yoga or Pilates mat class, $20 to $30, with reformer classes running $35 to $60.

Prices skew high in New York, the Bay Area, Miami, and Scottsdale, and low in Phoenix, Houston, Philadelphia, and most of the Southeast.

When does a membership actually pay?

Do the arithmetic before the studio does it for you.

If a drop-in is $40 and unlimited is $160 a month, your break-even is four visits. Go twice a month and you have paid $80 a visit for the privilege of unlimited access you did not use. This is the most common way people overspend on recovery.

Buy the membership after you have proven the habit, not to create it.

A ten-pack, usually 10 to 20 percent off drop-in, is the honest middle option and it is the one most studios promote least. Our habit guide covers what actually makes the visits happen.

Why is the price range so wide?

Because “sauna and cold plunge” describes three different businesses.

A dedicated recovery studio sells time in a circuit and lives on membership volume, so its per-session price is the lowest. A med-spa or clinic sells treatments and adds a plunge as an amenity, and its pricing follows treatment logic. A resort or destination spa sells a day, and the thermal circuit is one part of it.

None of these is a rip-off in itself. Paying resort prices for studio value is the mistake, and it is easy to make when a hotel’s website shows the same cedar and the same tub.

What should make you suspicious of a price?

Two things.

A premium charged for cryotherapy or IV drips framed as performance, longevity, or anti-aging outcomes, because the evidence does not support the bigger claims. Our cold plunge vs cryotherapy comparison sets out what each one actually does.

And an aggressive annual contract with a cancellation fee, sold on your first visit, before you know whether you will use it. A studio confident in its product sells you a single session and lets the practice do the persuading.

Is a home setup cheaper?

Eventually, if you are a regular.

A serious home sauna plus chilled plunge is a four to five figure purchase, and a cold tub with no chiller plus bagged ice is cheap to buy and tedious to run.

At $160 a month for a membership you are spending under $2,000 a year, which buys a long runway before ownership wins on price alone. Our home cost guide prices each tier honestly.

Ownership makes sense when the friction of leaving the house is what stops you, not when the membership is the expensive part.

The bottom line

Budget $25 to $65 for a drop-in contrast session, and treat $99 to $249 a month as unlimited-access pricing that pays at three to five visits.

Be skeptical of resort pricing for studio value, and of clinics selling outcomes.
